NEW CLUB CONSTITUTION

Every three years there are changes that result from actions of Rotary's Council on Legislation. Our new Club Constitution took effect on Jul 1st this year. You can download a copy from the Dowloads section of the web site (see the menu on the left side of the page).
Portions that do not apply to us (because they are for e-clubs) are shown with strikouts. New language is highlighted in yellow or orange..
The major changes are:
-
Our club's territory is the entire City of San Bernardino.
-
Transferring Rotarians need to show that they do not owe money to their former club.
-
The immediate past president is an officer of the club.

Sheldon Ewell
A NEW ROTARY YEAR BEGINS
Each July 1st is the start of a new Rotary year. Our president for 2011-12 is Sheldon Ewell. As the "Great Sheldini", Sheldon promises a year of fun, fellowship and service to our community.

We are the host Rotary club for San Bernardino, California.
We have sponsored nine Rotary clubs in our extended area who spon-sored eight additional clubs. Altogether, they total 750 Rotarian mem-bers today.
|
Here in our local community, we provide scholarships, leadership training, literacy and character building education programs for the youth of San Bernardino.
In the business community, we promote high ethical standards. We give annual awards to honor teachers who exemplify high ethical behavior to the children in their schools.
In the extended community our club supports orphaned children in Mexico. We provide healthy water for villages in Kenya, education for children in Uganda and are helping to create a polio free world for children everywhere.

Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious and open to all cultures, races and creeds. As signified by the motto “Service Above Self”, Rotary’s main objective is service – in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world.

NEW PRESIDENT OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL: Kalyan Banerjee from Vapi, Gujarat, India became president of Rotary International on July 1st, 2011, the beginning of a new Rotary year. Banerjee is chair of United Phosphorus, Bangladesh, and a director of United Phosphorus Ltd., one of the largest manufacturers of agrochemicals in India. He has been a Rotarian for 39 years having joined the Rotary Club of Vapi in 1972.
At the 2011 RI Convention in New Orleans, while still president-elect, Banerjee said Rotarians should be guided by three emphases - the family, continuity, and change - as they work to support Rotary's 2011-12 theme, Reach Within to Embrace Humanity.
